Before you call
A solid-roof patio cover provides overhead shade and shelter. Rain can still enter from open sides, and performance depends on the selected roof, drainage and installation. Discuss lighting or fan provisions during planning rather than assuming every ceiling can support them.
A pergola is an open or adjustable structure — filtered, dappled light rather than a solid roof. It defines a space without closing it in. Choose a louvered pergola and you get both: open sky when you want it, shade and shelter when you don't.
